Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
