Indianapolis Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10

Hello, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.

Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.

First Quarter Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.

A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
